Good evening, Buckhead — a stormy night is in the forecast, Georgia has a new governor-elect with a Buckhead address ahead, and a big Buckhead Village proposal is taking shape.
Stormy Night Ahead for Metro Atlanta
A cold front is bringing showers and thunderstorms across metro Atlanta through this evening and tonight, with heavy downpours, gusty winds, and a small chance of isolated severe storms. North Georgia is under a Level 1 out of 5 severe weather risk, so keep an eye on the forecast if you have evening plans and allow extra time on wet roads. Rain chances ease overnight, with gradual improvement expected Thursday.

Georgia Elects a New Governor — With a Buckhead Address Ahead
Georgia voters made history on Tuesday, electing former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms as the state’s first female governor — and the first Black woman elected governor of any U.S. state. She won with about 54% of the vote and will take office in January, when the Governor’s Mansion on West Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead becomes her official residence. Voters also returned U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff to Washington for a second term and flipped several other statewide offices.
Big Buckhead Village Proposal Moves Forward
Fresh renderings are out for a seven-story, mixed-use project proposed at 3110 Maple Drive in Buckhead Village, which would replace two buildings — including the low-rise home of Atlanta Police Department Zone 2’s precinct — with 315 apartments and about 7,100 square feet of street-level retail. The developer, Middleburg Communities, has now brought the plans before Buckhead’s SPI-9 Development Review Committee twice in a month. In related Village news, high-end furniture retailer Design Within Reach is planning a new store in the former Dior space at 3065 Peachtree Road.
